Derek Sanderson currently serves as the Vice President of Talent Strategy at SMAC Entertainment, an innovative talent management powerhouse co-founded by Constance Schwartz-Morini and Michael Strahan, in 2011. With a career trajectory spanning the realms of music, sports, and technology, Sanderson has become fluent in talent management, business incubation, and marketing.
Beginning his journey in the NFL with the St. Louis Rams, Sanderson honed his skills in developing impactful programs and activations that resonated throughout the community, elevating local events and championing essential causes. His keen understanding of leveraging the Rams' brand for heightened awareness set the stage for his transition into the world of music and artist management.
At Red Light Management in Nashville, Sanderson orchestrated digital marketing strategies for Country legends such as Sam Hunt, Lady A and Martina McBride. A stint with Roc Nation's marketing team, spearheading campaigns for renowned artists like Yo Gotti, Alicia Keys, Kelly Rowland, Robin Thicke, and Bohnes, Sanderson showcased his ability to navigate the ever-evolving landscape of entertainment marketing.
Joining the brand partnerships team at SMAC Entertainment in 2021, Sanderson became a driving force behind sourcing and executing endorsements for the entire talent roster. Recognizing his exceptional talents and strategic vision, Sanderson ascended to the role of Vice President, Talent Strategy in February 2023 where he focuses on the careers of Common, Wiz Khalifa, Erin Andrews, DK Metcalf, Curt Menefee and more.
Born and raised in St. Louis, MO, Sanderson is a graduate of North Central College. He currently lives in Los Angeles.
