The Role of Today’s CMO: Marketing in the Modern World

The role of the chief marketing officer is diversifying and facing an industry shift that puts true marketing expertise to the test. As digital and mobile tighten their grip on the industry, CMOs must ensure their brands remain connected, ahead of the curve, and keep enough firm footing to engage audiences in an arena where communication channels and formats proliferate. As brands confront changing consumer behavior, they must also realign marketing strategies and expand the role of the CMO to focus outside of just effective advertising and brand building.

During Advertising Week 2016, some of the top industry names, including P&G, Hilton, AT&T, General Mills, NBA and Chase will lend their CMOs to a series of sessions that will offer insights into the lurking changes in the marketing world. They’ll discuss how brand loyalty, evolving technologies and changing consumer demands make for an exciting, opportunity-ridden playing field for marketers.

At “A Millennial Shift in Hotel Marketing,” presented by ADARA, Hilton Worldwide CMO Geraldine Calpin joins a panel to discuss how companies like Hilton evolve their product, marketing and loyalty strategies to satisfy the millennial traveler whose habits and preferences are markedly different than their Gen-X predecessors.
